Terms of Use

The Academy offers private chess lessons — online and in person — along with an online learning area containing interactive lessons, explanations and recordings.

Lessons are taught by Lior Sattarov. The scope, level and content of each lesson are tailored to the individual student.

We may update, add or remove learning content in the online area at any time.

Accounts in the learning area are created by the teacher for enrolled students. There is no self-registration.

Usernames and passwords are personal and must not be shared. Keeping them secure is the responsibility of the student or their parent.

If you suspect unauthorised use of an account, tell us immediately and we will reset the password.

We may suspend or close an account used in breach of these terms.

Many of our students are children and teenagers. An account for a student under 18 is opened only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian.

The parent or guardian is responsible for the child’s use of the service, for payment, and for agreeing to these terms on the child’s behalf.

A parent may at any time ask to see the child’s data, correct it, or have the account deleted. We will handle such requests within a reasonable time.

The service is for personal learning only.

You may not copy, distribute, broadcast, sell or publicly display Academy lesson content, recordings or learning materials without our prior written permission.

You may not attempt to access other people’s accounts, disrupt the site, or reach areas not intended for you.

You may not use the service in a way that is abusive, threatening or harassing towards the teacher or other students.

All rights in Academy content — lessons, game analyses, explanations, recordings, text, design and logo — belong to the Academy or its licensors.

Access to the content grants no ownership in it, only a personal, limited, non-transferable licence to use it for learning.

Chess positions, moves and historical games are not themselves copyrightable; what is protected is the explanation, analysis and presentation we have built around them.

Lessons in the online area may include voice recordings by the teacher in three languages. These recordings are Academy content and are covered by the intellectual property section above.

We do not record students in the online learning area.

Recording of a private lesson, whether by the teacher or the student, will only take place with the prior agreement of both parties.

An online lesson costs ₪99 per academic hour. In-person and extended sessions are priced according to duration and location and are agreed in advance.

Payment is arranged directly with the teacher. This website does not process payments and does not store payment card details.

A lesson cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice is not charged. Later cancellations or non-attendance may be charged in full.

If the teacher cancels a lesson, an alternative time will be offered or the lesson refunded.

Nothing here limits any cancellation rights you have under the Israeli Consumer Protection Law, 5741-1981.

We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee that the site will be free of faults or interruptions.

Interruptions may occur for maintenance, updates, or reasons attributable to third-party infrastructure providers.

A temporary interruption to the online learning area is not a breach of any private-lesson arrangement.

To operate the learning area we store: the student’s name, their username, and lesson progress data (which lessons were opened, how far the student got, and what was completed).

Progress data is visible only to the teacher, for teaching and pedagogical follow-up.

We do not sell student data and do not pass it to third parties for marketing.

Data is hosted with a standard infrastructure provider (Supabase) and may be stored on servers outside Israel.

The site includes an accessibility component and we do our best to provide a response to every visitor.

The service is provided as is. We do not promise a particular result, a rating improvement, or a competitive achievement.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of opportunity, arising from use of the service.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

We may update these terms. The updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.

A material change — for example to pricing or the cancellation policy — will also be communicated directly to active students.

Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated version.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel.

The competent courts of the Central District shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter arising from these terms.
